Soccer

Kansas City has two professional teams, the Wizards, in Major League Soccer (outdoor), and
the Comets, in the Major Indoor Soccer League.  Some Italy-KC connections:

Jamar Beasley, forward for the Comets.  He was the first high school player to sign a contract
with the MLS.  His little brother, DaMarcus, is on the U.S. national team.  Prior to joining the
Comets, Jamar made the national under-20 team and participated in an apprenticeship with
AC Milan.  He was coached by former Italian great Walter Zenga while playing for the New
England Revolution.  In 2002, he played a season with Puetolana, a Serie C Italian team.

Some former players still in the Kansas City area (last time we checked):

Tony Meola, former goalkeeper for the Wizards.

Gino Schiraldi, formerly of the original Kansas City Comets.

Bocce

Yes, if golf is a sport, bocce is a sport.  Nice article on the local scene, but you sort of grimace
when the author chastises Americans for mispronouncing the name of the sport as
bah-chee
and then proceeds to tell people, incorrectly, to say
bo-chee.  Sorry, it's bo-cheh.
