Anagrafe e Censimento degli Italiani all'Esteri (A.I.R.E.).  Italian law provides that Italian citizens
who depart and remain outside Italy for a continuous period of 12 months or more are required,
within 90 days from the date of departure from Italy, to register with the Italian Consular Office
that has jurisdiction over their locality of residence.  Among the benefits include being able to
vote in Italian elections.
COM.IT.ES. (Committee of Italian Residents Abroad).  Organized and financed by the Italian
government, these committees consist of Italian citizens residing abroad that have been
elected by their fellow Italian citizens residing in the various Consular Districts.  In general, the
committees represent Italians abroad in their relations with the diplomatic and consular
representatives.  Every four years the COM.IT.ES of different countries elect the members of
CGIE (Consiglio Generale Italiani Residenti all'Estero) operating within the Italian Ministry of
Foreign Affair.  The COM.IT.ES for Missouri and Kansas is headquartered in Chicago.
